46 Participants Win Super Tickets

A total of 46 young badminton players successfully secured Super Tickets and advanced to the quarantine stage of the 2024 PB Djarum General Audition. This includes 18 recipients of Super Tickets from the tournament pathway and 28 recipients selected by the Talent Scouting Team. During the quarantine phase, the athletes will undergo a four-week final selection process to compete for the Djarum Badminton Scholarship from the Djarum Foundation Sports Initiative and join PB Djarum.

The Program Director of the Djarum Foundation Sports Initiative and Chairman of PB Djarum, Yoppy Rosimin, appreciated the fighting spirit of the 1,966 participants from Sumatra to Papua, who gave their all during the five-day 2024 PB Djarum General Audition, held from Tuesday (9/10) to Saturday (9/14). He hoped that the enthusiasm of the Super Ticket winners would continue to burn throughout the quarantine process.

"We thank all the athletes who have worked hard during the PB Djarum General Audition. For those who didn’t get a Super Ticket, don’t lose heart; there’s always next year. Keep training consistently to improve your potential. For those advancing to the quarantine stage, maintain your quality and mentality," said Yoppy after announcing the athletes who received Super Tickets at GOR Djarum, Jati, Kudus, Central Java, on Saturday (9/14).

The Chairman of the Talent Scouting Team for the PB Djarum General Audition, Sigit Budiarto, explained that Super Ticket winners in the boys' category were semifinalists, while in the girls' category, the finalists from the tournament in the U-11, KU11, and KU12 divisions received the tickets. Super Tickets were also awarded to participants with notable potential, even if they didn’t win, based on PB Djarum’s criteria.

“We’re grateful that this year’s increase in participants was matched by fairly even quality across various sectors, including those from outside Java. We hope the Super Ticket winners are those with exceptional qualities and a fighting spirit. We aim to develop their talent, skills, and mental fortitude to prepare them for PB Djarum's training program,” said Sigit.

One Super Ticket winner from the tournament pathway, Vanezya Artha Nafasta (KU11 Girls), secured her victory in a hard-fought rubber game against Syadza Bella Zerlinda Jagadita, winning 21-19, 18-21, 21-17. In 2023, Vanezya had reached the quarantine stage after receiving a Super Ticket from the Talent Scouting Team but failed to earn the Djarum Badminton Scholarship. This year, she’s determined to work even harder to achieve her dream of joining PB Djarum.

“This year, the opponents were more resilient compared to last year. I’m grateful to have won and received a Super Ticket again. In the 2023 PB Djarum Audition, I only made it to the quarantine stage because I was lacking physically. But I’ve been training my physical condition, like running and skipping. I hope this year I can join PB Djarum because I really want it,” said the athlete who idolizes Susy Susanti.

Meanwhile, Geralldy Mananggel, who earned a Super Ticket from the Talent Scouting Team in the U-11 Boys category, expressed his joy. Although he lost in the tournament stage on Saturday (9/14) to Muhammad Abidzar Alghifari, the athlete from Manado, North Sulawesi, caught the Talent Scouting Team's attention and advanced to the quarantine stage.

"This is my first time participating in the PB Djarum General Audition. I didn’t expect to receive a Super Ticket from the Talent Scouting Team and make it to the quarantine stage, especially after losing in the tournament’s round of 16. I’ll work hard to be accepted as a PB Djarum athlete and start chasing my dream of becoming a world-class player," said Geralldy.

Through the Djarum Badminton Scholarship program by the Djarum Foundation Sports Initiative, all 2024 PB Djarum General Audition participants who join PB Djarum receive free training. PB Djarum covers all the athletes' needs, from housing and nutrition to equipment and competition gear. The athletes are also given the opportunity to participate in badminton tournaments both domestically and internationally.
