Environmental Service Djarum Foundation through the program "Ready for Environmentally Awareness (Ready Darling)" launched the "Candi Darling From Home" which aims to encourage the younger generation to continue to actively preserve the environment in creative ways. Candi Darling From Home is an adaptation of the Environmentally Aware Temple (Candi Darling) program which is now being held online. There are three temples in the Special Region of Yogyakarta that are beautified and greened through this activity, namely Sambisari Temple, Banyunibo Temple and Barong Temple.
The Djarum Foundation Environmental Service Associate Program, Tania Anggriani Arbi said, the mechanism for the implementation of the Darling From Home Temple was entirely online. Young people who care about the environment who want to participate can upload activities with the theme of caring for the environment on their social media accounts and hashtag #CandiDarlingFromHome and write the official account tag @ readydarling.
“Each post will be counted as a donation of one tree seed that will be planted in the area of Sambisari Temple, Banyunibo Temple and Barong Temple. In addition, actions and forms of love for the environment can also be carried out by running and cycling activities which will be converted into a single tree seed,” Tania explained.
Candi Darling From Home targets the participation of the younger generation to collect no less than 10 thousand trees and plants which will later be planted in Sambisari Temple, Banyunibo Temple and Barong Temple. All tree and plant seeds come from the Djarum Foundation's Plant Nursery Center (PPT) located in Kudus, Central Java. The type to be planted also adjusts to the characteristics and environment in which the temple is located.
Communication Director of the Djarum Foundation, Mutiara Asmara, added, Candi Darling From Home is a movement to challenge the millennial generation to be more involved in preserving historical heritage in the form of temples which are valuable relics of this nation's ancestors. This movement is a continuation of the Candi Darling program which has greened and beautified several temples in Indonesia including Prambanan Temple, Ratu Boko Site, Ijo Temple and Gedong Songo Temple.
“The Darling From Home Temple is an initiation to continue the Darling Temple activities that have been carried out by the Djarum Foundation Environmental Service since 2019 which will encourage young people to continue to care about the greening of the temple environment in innovative ways. Candi Darling From Home will facilitate young people to preserve the temple in a way that is close to their daily lives and just from home. This program will be implemented until 2025 and is expected to cover the reforestation of all temples in Indonesia,” said Mutiara.
Not just planting activities, Darling From Home Temple on this occasion launched a video series containing a tour of the three temples. In this video series, starring actor Ramon Y Tungka and influencer nature activist Alfira Naftaly Pangalila alias @anak_bebek, the younger generation can find out the ins and outs of history and also the efforts that can be done to help preserve the three ancestral temples.
Plt. The Head of the Cultural Conservation Preservation Center (BPCB) of the Special Region of Yogyakarta, Zaimul Azzah, expressed his appreciation for the Darling From Home Temple activity initiated by the Djarum Foundation Environmental Service. According to him, activities like this are expected to further foster a love and sense of belonging to the nation's historical heritage. He also appreciated the video series which he considered to have important educational values about temples as national heritage, but were packaged nicely for the millennial generation.
“After more than a year we didn't leave the house, Darling From Home Temple is a breakthrough so that the younger generation continues to love historical sites. And it is also hoped that it can be a means of education so that they can get to know the history of this nation better. Hopefully, Ready Darling will continue to innovate in efforts to preserve historical heritage, while continuing to raise awareness of the younger generation on the importance of reforestation and saving the environment from an early age," said Zaimul.
Meanwhile, for Ramon Y Tungka who became the host in the video series said, Candi Darling From Home provides a new perspective in terms of protecting the environment. “I think this activity combines the side of caring for nature but can also be a historical tour. Because we can also get to know the greatness of the nation's ancestors through these temples. Furthermore, it is our duty to help maintain the balance of nature in this temple environment for its sustainability in the future,” said Ramon.
The environmental activist Alfira Naftaly Pangalila said the same thing. The figure, known as @anak_bebek, hopes that Darling From Home Temple can reach the target of 10 thousand flowering trees and shrubs so that they can immediately beautify and calm the Sambisari Temple area.
