PB Djarum League 2020, Maintain and Improve the Quality of Young Athletes

KUDUS, Suaramerdeka.com – Liga PB Djarum 2020, maintain and improve the quality of young athletes. It also aims to keep athletes competitive during the pandemic. This was the statement conveyed by the Program Director of the Djarum Foundation's Sports Service and the Chairman of PB Djarum, Yoppy Rosimin, regarding the implementation of the 2020 PB Djarum League.

The PB Djarum League will be held from 6 to 11 July 2020 at GOR Djarum, Jati, Kudus.

“With the absence of national and international tournaments, this is an opportunity for PB Djarum to re-measure the abilities of our young athletes. In addition, the championship which is internal (only participated by PB Djarum athletes) is also to find more quality young PB Djarum badminton players who will later defend Indonesia in the world badminton championships," said Yoppy.

A total of 100 young PB Djarum athletes from the Beginner, Youth, and Youth and Adult groups in the men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles and mixed doubles sectors were involved in this league.

“To improve the competitive atmosphere, athletes who have high performance in their age group, we will include them in a higher age group. Likewise with the doubles pair who are already strong, we will look for new partners so that they are more adaptive to whoever the tandem is on the field, "explained Yoppy.

This league is held in a semi-competition format that pits athletes against each other to win the title. Following the health protocols set by the government during the Covid-19 pandemic, the 2020 PB Djarum League was held without spectators and also implemented physical distancing during matches. For this reason, badminton lovers can watch the match through live streaming on the PB Djarum Youtube channel (https://www.youtube.com/pbdjarum) at 08.00 WIB from Monday (6/7) to Saturday (11/7).

The 2020 PB Djarum League is certain to be fierce because a series of talented young athletes from PB Djarum are challenging their seniors who already have higher experience in National Training such as Ihsan Maulana Mustofa and Alberto Alvin Yulianto. Meanwhile, in the ranks of young athletes, PB Djarum, who will show their skills in this competition, include Ghana Muhammad/Mochamad Raffi and Berlina Alma/Jovika Vandaria in the doubles sector. While in the singles sector, young athletes who participated were Ruzana, Mutiara Ayu Puspitasari, Isyana Syahira Meida, Bernadine Anindya Wardana, Gregorius Farrel Frandico, and Hendry Leander in the men's and women's singles sector.

This tournament competes for prizes in the form of deposits with a total of more than 105 million for the 17 categories contested. But not only that, PB Djarum will also give additional prizes to the best male and female badminton players in the form of a two-door refrigerator.

"The best men's and women's badminton in Liga PB Djarum, will be selected by the singles coaches and doubles coaches, but under the command of head coach Fung Permadi." Obviously Yoppy Rosimin.

Even though it was held to maintain competitive power during the pandemic, Yoppy believes the 2020 PB Djarum League will have a positive impact that will benefit the development of the quality of PB Djarum's young athletes in the future. “With the PB Djarum League, athletes will get a competitive atmosphere from the results of their training for the last four months. If the PB Djarum League is beneficial for athletes, next year we can hold it again," he concluded.

As is known, the Covid-19 pandemic that has hit Indonesia has temporarily suspended various national and international badminton tournaments.
